Linda Savage bought The Vajra store 10 years ago from her daughter Rachael, who is a Buddhist.
In the years that Linda has owned The Vajra, she has branched out adding items such as leather journals, crystals, fairies, and an expanded selection of greeting cards.
Tarot Readings were added because Linda, a reader herself, thought the readings seemed a perfect fit with the spiritual intention of the store.
Ms. Savage makes sure that the incense and essential oil inventories are large and of high quality, and feels it is important that fair trade products are available.
“We did some remodeling in 2008, which caused concern when the store was empty and closed for three days; there were sighs of relief when we reopened with new lighting and rearranged counter space.” –Linda Savage
After all the changes on Capitol Hill the last few years, The Vajra is still here. The store front still has the Buddha Eyes looking down benevolently on Broadway and people are still spinning the prayer wheel as they walk by.
